BetMGM partners with Minnesota Vikings in Canada

BetMGM has become the Minnesota Vikings’ official sports betting and online casino partner in Canada, strengthening its presence following its Alberta launch.

BetMGM has signed a multi-year partnership with the Minnesota Vikings, becoming the NFL franchise’s Official Sports Betting Partner and Online Casino Partner in Canada.

The agreement gives BetMGM rights to use Vikings branding across approved sports betting, online casino and marketing activities in the Canadian market.

The partnership also includes an exclusive Vikings-themed online casino game, combining the NFL team’s brand with BetMGM’s growing portfolio of sports-themed gaming content.

The agreement comes shortly after BetMGM expanded into Alberta, its second regulated Canadian market after Ontario.

Vikings partnership targets Canadian fans

The partnership is designed to strengthen the Minnesota Vikings’ relationship with supporters in Canada while providing BetMGM with a recognised NFL property to support its Canadian growth.

Under the agreement, BetMGM can use official Vikings marks across approved marketing campaigns and its sports betting and online casino operations.

Martin Nance, Chief Marketing Officer of the Minnesota Vikings, said the partnership would create new opportunities for the franchise to engage its Canadian audience.

“As we continue to deepen our connection with Vikings fans across Canada, we're proud to welcome BetMGM as the team's official sports betting and online casino partner in Canada,” Nance said.

“Their commitment to innovation and fan engagement aligns well with our organization, and we're excited to create memorable experiences that celebrate Vikings football and connect with Canadian fans in new and meaningful ways.”

Exclusive Vikings casino game launches

The agreement extends beyond conventional sponsorship assets through the launch of a dedicated Vikings-themed casino title.

Vikings Big Kick LuckyTap, developed by Design Works Gaming, is available exclusively through BetMGM Casino in Ontario and Alberta.

The game uses American football as its central theme, with players able to win by successfully kicking a football through the goalposts.

BetMGM sees branded casino content as a way of combining sports fandom with its wider iGaming offering.

“Vikings fans bring a level of passion and loyalty that extends well beyond game day,” said Matt Prevost, Chief Revenue Officer at BetMGM.

“As the home of one of the largest collections of sports-themed casino content in North America, BetMGM is uniquely positioned to combine sports fandom with iGaming. We are eager to start football season off strong with another fantastic partnership especially as we expand our reach in Canada to Alberta.”

Alberta expands BetMGM’s Canadian footprint

The timing of the Vikings agreement coincides with an important period of Canadian expansion for BetMGM.

The operator launched in Alberta on 13 July 2026, marking its first international market expansion since entering Ontario in 2022.

BetMGM now operates both sports betting and online casino products across the two regulated provincial markets.

The Vikings partnership gives the operator an additional sports marketing platform as it works to build awareness and acquire customers following its Alberta launch.

Rather than limiting the relationship to sportsbook promotion, the inclusion of a branded casino game also allows BetMGM to connect the Vikings brand with both major parts of its Canadian offering.

Sports and casino increasingly overlap

The partnership demonstrates how operators are increasingly using sports sponsorships to support broader online gambling businesses rather than sportsbooks alone.

By becoming both the Vikings’ official sports betting and online casino partner in Canada, BetMGM can activate the relationship across multiple products.

The Vikings Big Kick LuckyTap game provides a direct example of this approach, turning intellectual property from the sports partnership into an exclusive digital casino product.

For BetMGM, this fits with its wider strategy of building a portfolio of sports-themed casino content capable of engaging fans outside traditional sports betting.

It also gives the Vikings another digital touchpoint through which the franchise can connect with supporters in Canada.

Canadian sports partnerships gain importance

BetMGM’s agreement with the Vikings arrives as regulated gambling operators increase their investment in sports partnerships aimed specifically at Canadian consumers.

As regulated online gambling expands beyond Ontario, national and regional sports properties provide operators with established audiences through which they can build brand awareness in newer markets.

The structure of the Vikings agreement is particularly notable because the partnership rights are specifically focused on Canada, allowing BetMGM to use a major US sports franchise as part of its Canadian marketing strategy.

For the Vikings, the partnership similarly provides an opportunity to strengthen engagement with an international segment of their fanbase.

Responsible gambling remains part of expansion

BetMGM said responsible gambling will remain a priority as the company enters new markets and introduces additional products.

The operator provides customers with access to GameSense, a responsible gambling programme developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and licensed to BetMGM.

GameSense has been integrated into BetMGM’s mobile and desktop platforms, providing digital customers with access to the same programme used across MGM Resorts properties.

The system complements BetMGM’s existing responsible gambling tools as the company continues to expand its Canadian operations.

With BetMGM now active in both Ontario and Alberta, the Minnesota Vikings partnership provides the operator with another platform for building its Canadian brand while combining sportsbook marketing, online casino content and fan engagement within a single sports partnership.
