Betano has announced a long-term partnership with the Romanian Paralympic Committee, marking the operator’s first formal entry into adaptive sports in Romania. The collaboration positions Betano as a key supporter of wheelchair basketball while embedding broader objectives around social inclusion, athlete development and access to specialised resources.
The partnership was officially launched through Betano’s role as main supporter of the National Wheelchair Basketball Championship held in Sibiu, signalling a commitment focused on sustained impact rather than short-term visibility.
At the core of the agreement is Betano’s support for wheelchair basketball as a competitive and developmental sport in Romania. The operator will back national tournaments aimed at strengthening competitive pathways for adaptive athletes and expanding access to organised competition.
Beyond events, Betano has committed funding for development workshops targeting athletes, coaches and support staff. The initiative also includes the provision of high-performance, specialised equipment designed to improve training conditions and long-term athletic performance.
The partnership extends beyond sport into wider social responsibility initiatives. As part of the agreement, Betano will donate 20 new wheelchairs to patients supported by the OncoHelp Association, directly linking the programme to healthcare and rehabilitation support.
This component reinforces the initiative’s social inclusion focus and aligns sporting investment with tangible community outcomes, rather than purely brand-driven activations.
According to Betano, the partnership has been structured as a long-term development programme rather than a one-off sponsorship. Further activities are planned under the framework agreed with the Romanian Paralympic Committee, with both parties positioning the collaboration as a sustained contribution to Paralympic sport in Romania.
The move follows similar initiatives by Betano in other markets, where the brand has tied social responsibility programmes to sport, education and harm-reduction frameworks. By partnering with a national sports institution, Betano strengthens its local positioning while responding to growing expectations around meaningful corporate social responsibility in regulated markets.
“This is what real impact looks like, turning passion into progress and challenges into victories,” the operator stated, adding: “Together, we make the impossible possible. For real. Pe bune.”
