Formula 1 Names Betway as First Official Betting Operator

Formula 1 has entered the regulated sports betting space by appointing Betway as its first official betting operator under a multi-year global agreement. The partnership marks the series’ first formal integration of betting markets tied to its real-time race data and strategic race events.

The deal covers multiple regions including Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as Canada and Mexico. Formula 1 indicated that the agreement is non-exclusive and additional betting partnerships could follow in other territories.

Real-time betting markets introduced

The collaboration builds on Formula 1’s data partnership with ALT Sports Data, which began generating predictive analytics and betting data solutions for the championship in 2025. Through this infrastructure, Betway will be able to offer in-play betting markets based on live race scenarios.

Eligible fans will be able to wager on a range of race developments such as safety car deployments, pit stop windows and strategic on-track battles between drivers and teams. The data-driven format aims to translate the sport’s complex strategic elements into interactive betting opportunities.

Controlled rollout with regional restrictions

Formula 1 said betting-related content on its website and digital platforms will be age-gated and restricted to jurisdictions where sports wagering is legal. Editorial content explaining available betting options will also be published for audiences in eligible markets.

The series confirmed that further regional betting operators may be added in the future, with the United States identified as a key target market ahead of the Miami Grand Prix.

Expanding Formula 1’s commercial ecosystem

The Betway agreement forms part of Formula 1’s broader commercial expansion ahead of the 2026 season. The championship has recently renewed and expanded several global partnerships, including a long-term deal with Salesforce and new collaborations with financial services partners.

For Betway, the partnership adds Formula 1 to an already extensive sponsorship portfolio spanning football, tennis, basketball, rugby and cricket, further reinforcing its presence across major global sports properties.
